What are Humanities and Social Sciences (Arts)

Although definitions can vary across scholarly institutions and groups, generally the humanities are those disciplines that investigate the human condition, using primarily analytical, critical, or speculative methods. The humanities include (but are not limited to) ancient and modern languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion, and visual and performing arts such as music and theatre.

Closely related to the humanities, the social sciences are fields of study that may involve more empirical methods to consider society and human behavior, including (but not limited to) anthropology, archaeology, criminology, economics, education, linguistics, political science and international relations, sociology, geography and psychology.

The arts and humanities are about how human beings express emotions and ideas. Arts subjects teach how to create things like drama, paintings and music. Humanities subjects study how these ideas have affected human culture and society. However, there is a lot of crossover between the two areas, as well as with social sciences like anthropology, and subjects like law and modern languages are sometimes also considered to be humanities.

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Madhav University:

The faculty members are grouped under four broad specializations – Language, History, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Public Administration and Sociology. They have been engaged in research in all the classical areas of Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts and upcoming areas too. The academic activities are supported by well settled laboratories, best communicational classes and e-learning. The Faculty has decided recently to focus major research efforts in the different areas of human and social development.

The faculty has been active in offering consultancy services and conduct courses regularly to facilitate the continuing education.

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Madhav University is one of the largest in terms of faculty, students, and activities, continues to lead and expand its activities in various directions. The Faculty is known for its knowledge, work quality, teaching methods, research and projects. Several graduate and postgraduate courses being offered to students to increased their personality. Faculty has also offered the extra competitive classes for various competition examinations conducted by the central and state governments.

Faculty also houses an institute central facility on Rapid Prototyping. The department is very well equipped with computational facilities and resources both in terms of hardware and software.
