Department of Physiotherapy aims at wellness to people facing injury, pain or disability. Faculty has been rendering tireless services to the local and tribal population over last 4 years. On an average over twenty patients avail our services on a daily basis.

Patients with neurological, orthopedics with spinal problems and sports injury cases are treated. Our treatment is customized for each patient to optimize the return to normal functioning. We have 24x7 physiotherapy services for patients.

Treatment Areas

Our department is managed by a team of highly qualified, skilled and experienced physiotherapists and provides the necessary training to meet the total range of patient care responsibilities involved in preventing disabilities and promotion, restoration of function to the physically impaired, including Musculoskeletal and Neuro Muscular disorders that interfere with physical functioning.

Our management includes:

  • Prescription of Exercise therapy and paraffin wax bath

  • Electrotherapy treatment
  • Short wave diathermy
  • Interferential therapy
  • Infra red radiation therapy
  • Ultra sound therapy

We treat neck and back problems, Sciatica, Mobility/Gait problems, Frozen shoulder, Tennis/Golfers elbow, Fasciitis/Heel spurs, Sports injuries, Acute muscle and Tendon sprains, Acute joint and ligament strains, Overuse strain and Sprain injuries, Arthritic pain, Stiffness and Weakness, General Respiratory conditions, Ligament tear, Joint dislocations/Subluxations etc. Madhav Physiotherapy department caters to the rehabilitation needs of in-patients as well as of out-patients. The department also serves as an advance training centre for physiotherapists from Madhav Physiotherapy College, affiliated and recognized by the Indian association of Physiotherapy (IAP).

Along with the hospital activities, the Physiotherapy department also actively conducts and participates in medical and health promotional camps all over the district and near by villages.

Courses in Offering

  • Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B.P.T.)
    Eligibility for Admission
    • Candidate should have passed class 10+2 Examinations (12th standard) or equivalent examination with science stream i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English with 45% marks for general candidate and 40% marks for SC/ST candidate.
    • b) A candidate should have completed the minimum age of 17 years and maximum 25 years for male & 28 years for female candidate as on 31st December of the year of the year admission to B.P.T. degree course. 5% age relaxation for SC,ST Candidates
    • c) Every candidate before admission shall furnish a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized government medical officer that the candidate is physically fit to undertake the physiotherapy course.
    Duration of the Course

    The duration of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy course (B.P.T) shall be (4) four years in semester pattern total 8 semesters academics curriculum including (6) six months compulsory rotatory internship.

  • Master of Physiotherapy (M.P.T.)
    Eligibility for Admission
    • a) Candidates who have passed BPT degree from institutions where the mode of study is a full time program, with minimum 4 ½ years duration from any university in India or abroad as equivalent with not less than 50% of marks in aggregate and have completed 6 months of compulsory rotating internship in Physiotherapy. Candidates who have passed BPT through correspondence or Distance Education program are not eligible.
    • b) Every candidate before admission shall furnish a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized government medical officer that the candidate is physically fit to undertake the physiotherapy course.
    Duration of the Course

    The duration of the Master of Physiotherapy course (M.P.T) shall be (2) two years in semester pattern total 4 semester’s academics curriculum including Dissertation work.

Future Perspectives

Physiotherapy is an autonomous health profession that is primarily directed towards the prevention or alleviation of movement dysfunction in people. It is concerned with the remediation of impairment, and promotion of mobility, functional ability. The practice of physiotherapy is dedicated to movement sciences and it concerned with the function of body systems.

A career in physiotherapy can lead to a variety of interesting and challenging jobs in the health care system. Physiotherapists get specialisations in the areas such as paediatrics, geriatrics, neurology, cardiorespiratory, and orthopaedics. Physiotherapists can also obtain a doctorate degree and become involved in research. Physiotherapists that demonstrate a high level of skill, knowledge and competence in their work may find many opportunities for growth, such as moving into supervisory or management positions, teaching positions, or they may decide to open their own physiotherapy clinic or service.

Physiotherapists work with patients with physical difficulties that may be a result of illness, injury, disability or aging. A physiotherapist will need to work with patients, to identify and treat their physical problems and to cure the patients following surgery, injury, accident and strokes, enhancing tolerance in exercise and daily activities, e ducating about the condition and therapy program.

The physiotherapist mainly works in hospitals, rehabilitation centres and private practices. They also work in nursing homes, industrial health units, schools, sports clubs or clinics, the armed forces and universities.

The requirements for admission into a physiotherapy programme vary from university to university. Generally, students benefit from a strong science background. Candidates interested to pursue a career in phyisotherapy require a good foundation in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, health and physical education.
