Research and Development Activities

Faculty/Graduate Student/doctoral Development
Faculty, graduate student, and doctoral scholar development refers to those programs which focus on the individual instructor or future faculty member. Specialists in this area provide consultation on teaching, including class organization, evaluation of students, in-class teaching methods, active learning strategies, emerging teaching and learning technologies, and all aspects of design and presentation. They also advise instructors on other aspects of teacher/student interaction, such as advising, tutoring, discipline policies and administration.
An additional frequent focus of such programs is the instructor as a scholar and professional. These programs offer assistance in career planning, professional development in scholarly skills such as grant writing, publishing, committee work, administrative work, supervisory skills, and a wide range of other activities expected of faculty. For graduate and professional students, these programs might take the shape of Preparing Future Faculty or Preparing Future Professionals, designed to prepare them for future career directions.
A third area on which these programs focus is the instructor as a person. This focus includes wellness management, interpersonal skills, stress and time management, assertiveness development and a host of other programs that address the individual’s well-being. While not all faculty and graduate student/doc development programs include all these areas, most take a holistic view of faculty work, with the philosophy that assisting individual instructors in being as productive and effective as possible will strengthen the entire institution.

Teaching outside the Classroom
Teaching and learning can become inherently spontaneous and student-centered when moved from the confines of the classroom into the world at large. From the collaborative learning atmosphere that results from the unique relationships developed outside the classroom, to the deep learning that occurs when students must put into practice “in the real world” what they have theorized about from behind a desk, field experiences are unmatched in their learning potential. Field experiences early in a student’s career can be formative and can inspire students to continue in a field.
Learning experiences outside the classroom are inherently interdisciplinary. When we go out into the world, we encounter it as a whole and are forced to engage multiple modalities, no matter which pair of disciplinary “lenses” we intended to wear. Therefore, scientists and humanists alike do well to consider the ways in which other disciplines might enrich their own disciplinary approach to their field.
There are many ways to make learning extend outside the classroom:
- Field Trips
- Service Learning and Community Engagement
- Study Abroad
- Technology outside the Classroom
- Peripatetic Pedagogy
- Place-Based Learning
- Assessment of Field Experiences
- Resources for research on Experiential Learning

Steps towards Social responsibility
A teacher is considered to be an embodiment of knowledge, restraint, sympathy, culture, goodness, faith and trust. A teacher should be developed in a manner that they cultivates necessary skills, disposition and attitudes, be positive and responsible to the demands and need of society as he is the sheet anchor of any worthwhile social change, progress and development. Many of students participate in social activities through N.S.S., Swatch Bharat Abhiyan and other organizations.
