Madhav Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital Hosts Suicide Prevention Awareness Program

Sirohi, Rajasthan, India – September 11, 2024 – Madhav Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital in Sirohi organized an awareness program on World Suicide Prevention Day. Dr. Parul Singh, Assistant Professor in the Community Medicine Department, led the event, focusing on this year’s theme: “Working Together to Prevent Suicide.” She emphasized the critical need for mental health support and social cooperation in suicide prevention.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Behera, Dean and Principal of the college, highlighted the severity of suicide as a societal issue, requiring combined efforts from both the community and medical professionals. He stressed the importance of focusing on mental health and providing timely assistance. Dr. Swati Upadhyay, Assistant Professor in the Organon of Medicine Department, discussed the development of suicidal thoughts and intervention strategies. She emphasized that timely intervention can prevent suicide and highlighted the importance of raising mental health awareness. Dr. Richa Tripathi, Assistant Professor in the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology Department, shed light on the legal aspects of suicide and its impact on society. She stated that understanding the legal implications and proper management of suicide cases are crucial. The program concluded with students and faculty pledging to promote awareness and prioritize mental health in suicide prevention.
