Abu Road, Rajasthan, India – Aug 25, 2024 – Madhav University recently celebrated Krishna Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna, with a special program on its campus. The university grounds and the on-site temple were beautifully decorated, setting a vibrant festive atmosphere.
The highlight of the celebration was the ‘Matki Phod’ event, a traditional game symbolizing the breaking of arrogance. Students actively participated, forming human pyramids to reach and break the pot of curd hung high, with the winning team receiving a prize from the university. The event also featured ‘jhankis’ (tableaus) depicting scenes from Krishna’s life, which were created by staff and students and drew considerable attention. Villagers from the surrounding areas visited the university to view the displays.
Preparations for the festival had been underway for several days, with students enthusiastically involved in the planning and execution. In addition to the ‘Matki Phod’ and the ‘jhankis,’ various competitions were organized, adding to the festive spirit. The event was attended by Dr. Bhavesh Kumawat, the Registrar, along with Mahendra Singh Gurjar, Chirag Malviya, Abhishek Meena, Shankar Lal, Kishore Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Bhura Ram, Mamta, Khushi, Payal, and other university staff and students. The celebration successfully showcased the cultural richness of the region and fostered a sense of community within the university.
