Abu Road, June 6, 2024 – Madhav University marked International Environment Day with a series of events organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Department of Agriculture. The day began with a tree plantation drive, where approximately 150 saplings were planted on the university campus.
The celebrations also included essay and poster competitions on environmental themes, which saw enthusiastic participation from students.
Prof. S.N. Sharma, Chairperson of Madhav University, emphasized the importance of planting more trees to protect the environment and conserve natural resources. Dr. Rajeev Mathur, President of the university, encouraged students to take care of the newly planted trees and promote environmental consciousness within their communities.
Dr. Bhavesh Kumawat, University Registrar, stressed the need for a sustainable approach to environmental management. Dr. Prakash, Assistant Professor of Agroforestry, explained the Thimbak method of water conservation for efficient plant growth.
The event also featured a satirical poem by Dr. Katilal Yadav, highlighting the importance of environmental protection. The NSS team, led by Director Dr. Devendra Mujalda and Coordinator Sangeeta Singh, played a crucial role in organizing the event and raising awareness about environmental issues.
The celebrations were attended by a large number of students, faculty, and staff, including Dr. Manoj Kumar Behera, Dean and Principal of Madhav Homeopathic Medical College and Hospital.
